MVSAT

MVSAT

Deckhouse VSAT is a high-speed, two-way IP broadband ship-to-shore satellite telecommunications service. With a high bandwidth speed of up to 4Mbps, it has the capability to provide value-added solutions and services. These include email, Internet, fax, Voice over IP (VoIP), SIP phone services and more.

Available as an unlimited usage service plan with a fixed monthly charge, Deckhouse provides significant savings on communication costs

What is MVSAT?
VSAT stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal. It is a satellite technology used for two-way communications for internet, data and telephony. VSATs access satellites in geosynchronous orbit to relay data from small remote earth stations (terminals) to other terminals (in mesh configurations) or master earth station “hubs” (in star configurations).

How VSAT works?
VSAT is the acronym for Very Small Aperture Terminals. VSAT are mostly configured in one of the following network topologies: a star topology, which uses a central uplink site such as an NOC (network operations centre) to transport the data back and forth to each VSAT terminal. This transportation of data to each VSAT takes place through satellite communication. The mesh topology is a type of network topology in which each of the VSAT terminals relays the data via satellite to another terminal.

MVSAT system is the best solution for vessels demanding high bandwidth capacity and intense communication with always-on and flat rate system.

It's most commonly used on transoceanics and big sized vessels whose communication is important. C band has global coverage and offers high bandwidth. Because of this, needs big antenna and 2-3 days for installation. Based on flat-rate connection and works between 3-6 GHz frequencies.

VSAT system is the best solution for vessels demanding high bandwidth capacity and intense communication with always-on and flat-rate system.

It's more proper solution for mid and small sized vessels trading at fixed line.

Ku-band antenna's dimension smaller than C-band and installation is easier than C-band's. Works between 12-18 GHz.

SERVICES

Thanks to the benefits of high-speed, flat rate VSAT services, ships are now becoming highly functional remote offices. Calling the Master of a Ship in the middle of the ocean becomes no different to calling the office down the corridor; the Master can still fully participate in the day-to-day functioning of the on-shore office. Continuously growing demand for data have made broadband services an appealing option for companies.

  • You can use all IP based programes on the ship, as long as bandwidth allows, because of MVSAT services are IP based services.
  • Secure network
  • Real-time information exchange for troubleshooting
  • Monitor the vessels operation at your land office through internet or even through 3G-enabled mobile phone
  • Internet access and unlimited Web browsing to enhance crew welfare
  • Large file transfer
  • Easy-to-manage cost structure
  • Internet access and unlimited Web browsing to enhance crew welfare
  • Radio over IP solution allows the usage of the walkie-talkie to call the shore office (PSTN) anytime, anywhere, especially in emergency cases
